How to Act on Those Goals

Can you believe we are in the final few days of 2024?

What would you say as you reflect back on the year?

Did things go as you had envisioned?

Did you accomplish your goals?

Did relationships with gate keepers develop as you had hoped?

How strong was your Word of Mouth marketing?

Did you grow?

Did you scale?

Did you even take the plunge and start the practice that you said you wanted to build?

Chances are your answers range from "Yes" to "mostly yes".

If you didn't accomplish what you had hoped for this year, perhaps you are thinking about how to make progress moving into 2025.

In the most recent editions of this blog, we discussed two important things needed to help Goals lead to success: Systems and Growth.

Today, we discuss how to act on those goals you have for building success.

Regardless of where you are in your journey, there is one actionable step to take that will significantly enhance your success probability.

Move forward with Intention.

So often, new and growing business owners will approach building their practice with a shotgun approach.

In other words, they try everything and see what they can hit.

Shiny objects sparkle in the corner of their eyes.

Practice owners just jumping off the bus will tell themselves: “I’ll just figure out what I don’t know, first.”  They tend to do everything that they see others doing.

Conversations had often go one of two ways: 

They are either in a rush to gain a referral, or to sell an eval…

Or, the conversations lack depth, clarity, and are accompanied by hesitancy and fear.

Believe us, established practice owners are not immune to such trappings, either.

All of the above result in goals falling short.

Why?

There is no game plan.  No system.  No purpose.

No Intention.

Growing a business should be approached no differently than the things that make the actual business run better and smoothly, which are systems.

The reason that business owners develop systems to execute various tasks is that they make such tasks reproducible, predictable, and often simpler.

Translation: There is Intention behind what is done.

During this new year, how can you approach each week, each day with Intention?

Evaluate your social media strategy.  Is there intention behind it, or is it random?

Is there a reasoning behind the people with whom you choose to initiate relationships? Or, are you trying to “hit everybody”?

When having those conversations, is there specific information that you are seeking to gain and to share?

Are you providing clarity and speaking with confidence? 

Or, will those talks remain superficial and with the hope that the person is able to read between the lines and act appropriately?

To crush your 2025 goals and see the your success come to fruition, consistently answer these questions for each step that you take:

  • Why am I doing this?

  • What is its purpose?

  • What is this leading me to?

  • What does success with this look like?

  • What information do I want to gather?

  • What specific information do I want to convey?

Consistency with this checklist will help to provide focus, and to avoid chasing the sparkles.

Clarity and direction will be gained.

The Intention behind everything that you do will lead to progress as you make 2025 your year.
